Everything You Need to Know

Weather Policy

During Team Ortho events there is always the potential for extreme or severe weather conditions (for example: lightning, tornado, high winds, extreme hot or cold temperatures, blizzard, etc...). Team Ortho Foundation will do as much as we can to make the experience as safe as possible. But if there is severe weather, the race may be delayed as race officials consult public safety officers. If there is more than a reasonable delay, or if conditions persist, race officials reserve the right to shorten or cancel the race. Entry fees are non-refundable. Please check the website and your email before the race for any changes or cancellations. If you are already at the event, listen to the announcer about any weather changes that may occur.

Course Music

We will have bands and live entertainment along the Half Marathon Course! Information on this is still being finalized for 2013.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three overall finishers for males and females (six awards total). They will be mailed out after the race.

Timing & Scoring

The Monster Dash Half Marathon will be timed using MTEC Results. You will pick your chip up at packet pick-up or have it mailed to you. This chip must be worn on the day of the event until you cross the finish line. This is a disposable chip and will not need to be given back after the race.

MTEC Results Instructions:

  • Keep the chip that was assigned to you at registration. Chips are non-transferable.
  • Secure the chip through your shoe laces on your right shoe before starting the race.
  • Wear the chip at all times during the race.
  • You do not need to return the chip after the race…they are disposable

Parking & Transportation

Discounted parking on Race Day for Monster Dash 

Standard Parking has arranged for a discounted parking at the Soldier Field North Garage on race day, October 21st.  You can pre-pay to reserve your spot or park there on race morning after 6:00 a.m. when the garage opens.

Rates: 
Prepaid:  $13 + a $3 service fee, but you can use the ramp all day up to 24 hours
Day-of-event rate:  $13 and is good for 12 hours (Parking after 9:30 a.m. the rate is $19 for four hours and $22 if over 4 hours).  This is on a first-come, first-served basis.  Cash or credit cards will be accepted on race day.

Public Transportation:

If you are interested in taking public transportation, Chicago Transit Authority has trains and buses that stop near the start and the finish of the Monster Dash which are located in Grant Park. See the CTA website for more information to track your route.
